Limiting himself to black-and-white photography of the twentieth century actually left a wide field open. In the end, John Green’s collection has grown around the theme of the artist’s eye cast upon other artists. Whether it is an artist at work or lost in reflection, the works in the Green collection are deeply expressive of both the artist who is the subject of the photograph and the approach of the photographer. The exhibition will be a banquet of photography’s stars: Ansel Adams, Berenice Abbott, Brassai, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Chuck Close, Imogen Cunningham, Yousuf Karsh, Andre Kertesz, Hans Namuth, Arnold Newman, Gordon Parks and Edward Steichen are just a few of the extraordinary talents to be represented.
