Docents
What is a Docent? The word docent has its root in the Latin, meaning to teach.

At the Yellowstone Art Museum, docents provide tours to school children and/or adults. They also may provide pre- and post-visit art appreciation presentations in the schools.

Qualifications
An interest in and aptitude for teaching
A commitment to learning (no prior art knowledge required)
An ability and desire to represent the Museum
Benefits
Opportunities to learn from curators, artists, art historians, and guest experts
Personal satisfaction from learning, by teaching others about art
Involvement with a wonderful group of docent colleagues who share similar interests and enthusiasm for art
Participation in the Museum's mission to educate, enlighten, and inspire the widest possible audience

Learn more about the arts from curators, docents, and other professionals in a museum setting
Take part in special art classes with artists
Help with children's workshops, special events, and tours
