Open Studio

These are summer classes that are offered on Thursday mornings and afternoons. Each class features a tour of the current exhibitions, followed by a related art activity. We work with a mix of mediums as well as professional art materials, to make sure your little artist grows.

Morning Session: 10:00 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Afternoon Session: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Ages 5 – 12, $6 members, $7 non-members

Summer 2017 Schedule

June 15 – “Paint Me a Story”

Share your story with a layered mixed media painting based on  Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith: In the Footsteps of My Ancestors. (registration opens Thursday, June 8)

June 22 – “Microscopic Monsters”

Re-imagine the microscopic world that surrounds us with a found object sculpture, inspired by Archaea: Rosane Volchan O’Conor. (registration opens Thursday, June 15)

June 29 – “Living the Dream”

Make a dream collage by layering mixed media, influenced by Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith: In the Footsteps of My Ancestors. (registration opens Thursday, June 22)

July 6 – “Leave Your Mark”

Get to leave your mark at the YAM in our Art in Action exhibition and on the museum grounds. (registration opens Thursday, June 29)

July 13 – “The Animal in Me”

Design your animal-self using the block printing process inspired by Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith: In the Footsteps of My Ancestors. (registration opens Thursday, July 6)

July 20 – “Sketch-a-Vision”

Deisng your own sketchbook to observe and sketch throughout the Visible Vault and the museum. (registration opens Thursday, July 13)

July 27 – “The Shape of Music”

Construct clay sculptures inspired by music, influenced by Archaea: Rosane Volchan O’Conor. (registration opens Thursday, July 20)

**Registration is required and opens 1 week prior to each class, maximum 30 students, walk-ins are welcome and are first come first serve!**
